Thomas DuBois

Department Chair and Professor

Tom is the chair of the Department of German, Nordic, and Slavic. As a folklorist, Tom teaches and researches on a range of topics having to do with the way people think about and use the idea of tradition in their lives. Most of his research focuses on Nordic cultures, especially Finnish and Sámi, although he increasingly interested in the relations of Nordic peoples with populations and ideas coming from elsewhere, particularly the Celtic world.

Nicole is the Academic Department Manager for GNS. She oversees the human resources for the department personal(payroll), is the departments budget and financial officer, helps set policy, and serves on various departmental committees.  She is also the contact person for the external and internal KnowledgeBase.

Rebecca is the Financial Specialist for GNS. She is the contact person for department funds, grants, approving reimbursements, and travel arrangements.

Thor Rothering

Communications Specialist

Thor is the Communications Specialist for GNS. He handles any tasks regarding the GNS website, social media posting, and other departmental related outreach.
