About: Melissa Sheedy joined the Department of German, Nordic & Slavic+ in August 2020. In and outside of the classroom, she is always ready to talk about Romanticism, fairytales, GDR and post-GDR literature, feminist ecocriticism, and her cats. Her dissertation, Romanticism Reloaded: Romantic Trajectories in Contemporary German Literature, engages with the legacies and transformations of the Romantic period in post-Wall German fiction. Before returning to the Midwest in 2020, she taught in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
