About: Zach Ramon Fitzpatrick joined the department of German, Nordic, and Slavic+ in fall 2023. He previously taught at Wesleyan University and DePaul University. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he received the Mellon-CES (Council For European Studies) Dissertation Completion Fellowship. His dissertation Shifting Focus: Asian German Film Representation since 1910 constitutes the first full-length critical history of Asia and Asians within German cinema. With Qinna Shen (Bryn Mawr College) and Qingyang Freya Zhou (UC Berkeley), he is currently co-editing a volume tentatively titled New Narratives of Asian German Film History: Imagination, Collaboration, and Diasporic Representation.
