About: Lisa is a German PhD candidate with a focus on German literature. Lisa graduated from the University of Education Freiburg in 2016 with the First State Examination – Europalehramt (Bilingual Teaching Certificate). She then did her M.A. at the University of Alabama in German Studies from 2016-2018, where she taught as a Teaching Assistant for German. Starting the PhD program at UW in Fall 2020, she successfully completed her prelims in 2022 and is now working on her dissertation “Vicissitudes of Heimat: Globalization, Migration, and Rural Germany in Contemporary German Novels.” To support the pursuit of her dissertation, she received a research assistantship from the Center for European Studies. She is currently in Freiburg, Germany, where she is a visiting PhD candidate at the University of Freiburg. She is Co-Chair of the focus group, “Dekolonisierung und Fremdheit” at the Graduate School of Humanities Freiburg.
