About Me: I am in the process of completing my Ph.D. in German Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition at UW-Madison. My dissertation study explores connections between first-year L2 German learners' linguistic, cultural, and personality background and their engagement in audio-visual texts in the light of complex dynamic systems theory. My research in informed by sociocognitive and discursive approaches to language learning and focuses on learner beliefs, film semiotics, and multilingualism in teaching language and culture.
Before joining UW-Madison in 2014, I received a BA in Spanish and MA in German as a Foreign/Second Language from the University of Vienna. I taught German in Russia, Uruguay, and Austria and I worked in international educational cooperation for German as a foreign language on behalf of the Austrian Ministry of Education, Research, and Science. I am currently working as an Assistant Professor of Second Language Studies and Language Center Coordinator at Webster Vienna Private University.
