About: Rachel is a PhD candidate in Scandinavian Studies. She completed her MA at Uppsala University in Early Modern History and her BA at the University of Texas at Austin in Scandinavian Studies, with a minor in Swedish. Her primary area of research is modern Nordic Gothic media, with focus on Scandinavian horror videogames. She is currently writing her dissertation on the cross-genre effects of the Nordic Gothic in Swedish horror videogames, with attention to depictions of trans-corporeal horror, ecoGothic landscapes, social realism, and remediation of retro media.
